If you like your Bollywood flicks, and we know there are plenty of you out there (the Indian film industry is one of the largest film producers in the world, don’t you know), you’ll soon be getting the chance to live the movies for real. News reaches us that the crazy land that they call Dubai (that place with shedloads of money and wacky seven-star hotels) is soon to be the host of an huge new development in association with Dubai Infinity Holdings, called The Yash Raj Films Entertainment District. Creators of such South Asian blockbusters as Veer Zara, Hum Tum and Bunty Aur Babli (okay, we haven’t seen them ourselves, but we’re told they’re good), YRF will be lending its name to theme park attractions, a movie palace and a brand spanking new hotel. As Bollywood movies rake in substantially more cash than western films in that part of the world, this is a savvy move by the cinema giants. As for the prospective punters, and in keeping with Bollywood’s love of all things Technicolor and toe-tappingly musical, they better bring their sunglasses and dancing shoes when the devlopment opens in 2012.
Wanted? You damn betcha. Rarely have we been so excited about a non-sequel summer blockbuster but Timur Bekmambetov's adaptation of Mark Millar's graphic novel is shaping up to be a bullet-ridden doozy. If you're anything like us, you'll have been poring over every new clip and trailer trying to keep your bloodlust sated until the film's June 25 release date, so it's with no small measure of satisfaction that we present to you a world exclusive clip from the action spectacular. In this scene, a world-class assasssin named Mr X (David O'Hara) finds himself hunted by a cadre of killers. We won't spoil anything for you but, suffice to say, keep your eye on that bindi. Click the image below to see the action (be warned, it's pretty violent) and make sure you come back on Thursday for yet another world exclusive Wanted clip.
What do you do when a star will only do limited press for his movie? You build a 15-foot-tall replica of his head, put it on a trailer, hitch the trailer to a vehicle and drive across the country. That's what 20th Century Fox has done to promote Eddie Murphy's upcoming family comedy "Meet Dave," which opens July 11. In the film, Murphy plays two roles: A spaceship, and the spaceship's minature alien captian. The Head of Eddie, weighing 3 tons, set out from Los Angeles on Friday the 13th for its cross-country trek. It will end its journey at Times Square in Gotham, where it will remain on display from July 3-5. Along the way, fans can climb inside the head's ear and have their pictures taken, similar to the movie's poster. Studio plans to take some of the pictures and make a mosaic verison of the poster, which will appear in theaters across the country. What could be a better heads-up for the film, outside of Murphy himself?
